2011
DUPC was formed in 2011 by the students of Delhi University colleges like Ramjas College, Hansraj College and Kirori Mal College. Few of the founding members were Haris Mikael, Achyut Misra and Shaleen Seth.
The concept of visiting places to explore the parts of town for the purpose of photography was introduced by DUPC. These photowalks were held on a regular basis, where passionate photographers from across the university gathered to share their interest in photography.
Taking photography to a next level, DUPC started to organize workshops for its members where they were taught the basic skills and knowledge of picture clicking. Few of the initial workshops were conducted by professional photographers Sandeep Bali and Hitesh Vig.
With the increasing number of people showing their interest and skills, DUPC started hosting Online Photography Competitions where the members shared their work on the monthly basis on the Facebook Group.
Popular media group Hindustan Times featured DUPC in their ‘Student Initiated Forums of DU’ edition of HT City.

By the end of 2011, DUPC had gained appreciation and was featured in University Express.
DUPC collaborated with the largest youth run organization, AIESEC. The members were given an opportunity to cover various events organized by AIESEC.
By the end of 2012, the responsibility of the admins were passed on to the new members. Continuing with their photowalks, DUPC had more than 500 members.

2013
With the increasing passion of photography, various colleges in the university started their own photography societies. DUPC approached them and started collaborating with these societies, bringing them together and providing a common platform for the students to learn and gain their photographic skills.
In this year, DUPC also collaborated with The Tony Blair Faith Foundation and Future Forward. Few of the members, exhibited their work in the Artists At Work Exhibition held in Delhi Hatt.

Presently, Delhi University Photographers Club has more than 1500 members and 4000 followers, including 23 societies of various colleges across DU. DUPC is also conducting regular photowalks and workshops for the members, and is active on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to reach out to the passionate photographers in the university.
